Celebrate Walpurgis Night in a castle environment.

Walpurgis Package 30/4, 2025

In preparation for Walpurgis Night 2025, we will be lighting many candles, torches, and fire baskets. In the castle park, there will be a celebration with choral singing and a Walpurgis bonfire in the evening (more information to come). The Walpurgis celebration in the castle park concludes each year with a dazzling fireworks display (subject to approval by local authorities).

You can choose between two Walpurgis packages, either with or without the castle’s grand afternoon tea. In the evening, a delightful Walpurgis buffet will be served, featuring cold appetizers, two main courses (fish and meat), and two desserts on the buffet. If you wish, you can take a break during dinner to watch the Walpurgis celebration in the castle park and then return to your table. Please discuss your preferences with your serving staff. Before or after dinner, you can also visit the castle bar.

You are warmly welcome to celebrate Walpurgis 2025 with us!

Traditional Walpurgis celebration in the castle park:

Sundbyholm’s Walpurgis celebration in the castle park is organized by a sports association, which will charge a small fee per car, and this fee will go directly to the sports association. Hotel parking is free for hotel guests. More information about which sports association will be involved for Walpurgis 2025 will be announced soon.

Those of you who wish to arrive early can come to the castle park starting at 6 PM to participate in lotteries and other fun activities. The official celebration will begin sometime after 8 PM (most likely closer to 8:30) and will include a spring speech, a male choir singing in the spring, and the lighting of the bonfire. The walpurgis celebration traditionally concludes here at Sundbyholm with a spectacular fireworks display over the waters of Mälaren next to the castle park. We kindly ask those with sensitive pets to take this into consideration.

Welcome!

The Long Tradition of Walpurgis Night

This day is said to be celebrated in memory of the German saint Saint Walpurga (Holy Walborg) since the Middle Ages. In ancient times, people would shout, make noise, and light fires to keep witches away.

We have not been celebrating Walpurgis here in Sundbyholm for quite that long, but we can still take pleasure in having welcomed many Walpurgis celebrators to this beautiful setting for about 40 years.

Instead of shouting and noise, the male choir Allmänna Sången will offer sweet singing for the evening. A large fire will then be lit in the castle park and will burn for a few hours. Most likely, but not certainly, there will be a thundering fireworks display to conclude the evening. Welcome!
