There are plenty of activities surrounding the castle. Take a walk along the beach, through the castle park, stop by the pleasure boat marina and enjoy the view of boats floating in Lake Mälaren, continue your tour through the non-planted beech forest and make your way to the famous Sigurdsristningen (Sigurd Rune, runic inscription) before heading back – now you’ve enjoyed about an hour walk through our beautiful nature. It can be just as beautiful no matter which season you decide to make the journey in. The beach, as well as the castle garden and pleasure boat marina are close by the hotel and castle. Sunbyholm has one of the largest guest harbors for pleasure boats of Lake Mälaren. At a comfortable distance (15 min walk) you can enjoy the thousand-year-old Sigurdsristningen (Sigurd Rune) that happens to be Sörmlands most exciting and largest runic inscription. At 1500m distance you find Sunbyholms travbana, which is a well-managed horse-racetrack, with a plethora of competitions and events. Another exciting destination to visit is Hammartorps gård, with its own farm shop, Sundbyholms meat and fish, which has its own smokery for meat and fish. You can reach these within a few minutes with car. Twelve kilometers south you find Eskilstuna centrum with shopping opportunities and museums. We strongly recommend a visit to Rademachersmedjornas different blacksmiths, and let’s not forget about one of Sörmlands biggest tourist attractions, Parken Zoo. At Munktellmuséet you can experience 175 years of Swedish industrial history. Another excursion can be to travel to Torshälla. Which is a tourist attraction in itself with cozy alleys and sculptures created by the artist Allan Ebeling. Most welcome to Sundbyholm! |
