Enjoy short and long hiking trails all year round

Explore Sundbyholm’s nature reserve during the day and relax with a three-course dinner with white tablecloths and lit candles when evening comes along.

This hiking package offers both shorter walking loops and longer hiking trails. A short distance away you will find Mälarens longest natural beach, Europe’s northernmost beech forest and rich wildlife. If you wish for a longer route we recommend the Gyllenhielmska hiking trail. Which also bears the name of Sundbyholms castles first owner, Carl Carlsson Gyllenhielm.

Since you most likely will deviate from the trail and walk into the forest, decent shoes are a must. During your journey a break is in order, you will be able to enjoy a pre-packed lunch which includes a sandwich and some kind of coffee bread that you will receive before your walk. The nature reserve has a rich wildlife, and you will most likely be able to see tracks, if you want to see the animals however you will have to be quiet! The forest is filled with deer, wild boar, moose and foxes. Keep your eyes towards the treetops and you might be able to see different kinds of birds. In your bag you will also be able to find binoculars, which will come especially in handy when you reach the nature reserves bird tower.

A 15 minute walk from the hotel you will find the thousand-year-old Sigurd carving (Sigurdsristningen), which is the largest rock carving in Sörmland and has also been the inspiration for Tolkiens “Lord of the Rings”.
